Reiki & Affirmations

As I took for my journey to my Reiki Master class, there was a theme I could sense starting to happen. Phrases and affirmations were popping up in my mind or being created by my mind. I was drawn to take a look at the definitions of each of these words to really understand what they represent. Spoiler Alert – the definition of  “phrase” is SO cute!

phrase
/frāz/
noun
a small group of words standing together as a conceptual unit.

af·firm·a·tion
/ˌafərˈmāSH(ə)n/
noun
emotional support or encouragement.

The phrase/affirmation that came to me to start my weekend of training was, “if it scares you and excites you, it is probably worth doing.” The reason I was both scared and excited was because being immersed in this weekend I could sense a big transformation energetically AND my mom and I were getting ready to have our business take off.

When I needed emotional support or encouragement throughout my journeying and meditation that weekend, an affirmation would come to me. During the final ignition, the energy felt so subtle that I doubted it was really happening for me. Then the encouraging affirmation came – “You don’t need a big show, just trust, and let it go”. As soon as we came back to the room, our instructor said this was totally normal, without me having to ask! She said sometimes we will feel the energy gently and subconsciously doing the healing and shifting and other times we will have big a-ha moments. Not only were the phrases/affirmations a theme for me, but also our classmates were having very similar experiences with being able to decipher alliteration in their meditations. Side note - the connectedness in these classes of complete strangers is absolutely aweing. “The circle is always divinely ordered”. One gal wrote a whole poem in a mix of English and Hebrew. Another, had words and phrases/affirmations come to her in visions to assist along her journey. Some other phrases/affirmations that came to me during the meditation and the day were:

“When you trust in the essence of life, the essence of life trusts you.”
“To live is to grow, to grow is to change, to change is to be, to be is to live.”

The major learning for me (aka the theme I mentioned earlier) from the whole weekend was to listen. Don’t overthink, react, assume, or imagine. Just be present, be here now, and listen. Not all spiritual guidance is given to us in the same way every time. We have to open up our hearts, ears and minds to receive all the beautiful messages our guides are sending to us.

And this one that I’ll leave you with – From my Yogi Tea bag that I was sipping from throughout the class, was a message I think we all can benefit from receiving –
“Live light, travel light, spread the light, be the light.”

What is Reiki?

“Reiki is love, love is wholeness, wholeness is balance, balance is well-being,
well-being is freedom from disease”.

– Dr. Mikao Usui

Simply and scientifically explained – Reiki is a Japanese form of stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is used by the laying of hands while a powerful, yet subtle energy flows through the hands of the practitioner into the client. It is this energy that creates the relaxation and healing effect. The word Reiki comes from Japanese Kanji and is comprised of two Kanji, Rei and Ki. Rei means Universal and Ki means Life Force Energy, which is in all living things.

Reiki can never do harm – it respects free will. This also means – the more one surrenders to the healing power of Reiki, the more one can be healed on a deeper and more profound level. Reiki heals the aura and works in tandem with the chakras to promote energetic healing in one’s body. Chakras are defined as the seven main energy centers in the body that look like flower petal discs that move subtle energy throughout the body. When the chakras are moving too slow, this can cause blockages in certain parts of the body where this is occurring and could eventually manifest into physical blocks and/or pain.

A more philosophical explanation – Through my time practicing and working with Reiki, I find it to do miraculous things not only for myself but those I have practiced on, as well. It has helped my family stay safe in our day-to-day lives, it has earned my partner a very well deserved job in a company that respects and honors him. It has helped my clients realize blocks in their healing that they have pushed down to “forget”. These have been brought back up to the surface in a gentle way to be recognized and healed productively.

On a daily basis, Reiki guides me and assists me in connecting with my authentic self and higher levels of consciousness. I feel at peace and know that Reiki is guiding me through my life’s purpose. Which my life purpose also happens to be Reiki. For others, Reiki can assist you in identifying your life purpose, whatever that may be, and positively guiding you towards it.

At Live Life Reiki Studio, we are committed to our client’s growth and healing – we can write an article or a blog all day about how you’ll find you’ll feel better about yourself, your confidence will go up, you’ll sleep better, have less anxiety, find your voice again, or get rid of those headaches that have been lingering for days, months, or years. But it will really resonate with you when you come to experience all of Reiki’s abundance for yourself.
